Have Your Read These?

A few years ago I was looking for a series to read–one that was out and done and I could just read the whole thing and not have to wait wait wait for the next book to come out. I’m not good at waiting. I came across the Mortal Instruments series and dug in. I read City of Bones, City of Ashes, and City of Glass.  Thought I was done. Then, a couple of years after than, I was looking around in the library and came across, what, two more books in a series that I thought was over–Say What!? So I read them. THEN, I discover that there was one left to come. So, yes, I’ve been waiting.  I’m going to admit that I liked the first three better than the last two, but at this point, I’ve read 5 books and I need to know what’s going to happen next. (I will admit to not loving all the Harry Potter books equally too, but I loved the series, so I don’t say that as any sort of slight.)

So finally it’s almost out! 5-27-14 Cassandra Clare’s City of Heavenly Fire!  (If you know this series, you know it’s right up my alley.)

I read this book some time ago, but was thinking about it today–that should tell you something–so I thought I’d mention it.  Maggie Stiefvater’s The Scorpio Races is one of the best YA novels I’ve ever read. I’m going to admit, that I started it twice before it hooked me and I think that’s because I thought it was going to be just another horse book and I didn’t let myself go the first time around. But then I picked it back up, turned off my notions of what a horse book was (which this ain’t, folks) and I fell in love.  Read it!

Megan Sheperds’s  The Madman’s Daughter trilogy. If you haven’t opened these books–I warn you, once you do, you won’t be able to put them down. The first book has been optioned for a movie and the third book is still in the works. I can’t wait!
