E is for Eli the Reluctant Hero (which is the most adorable kind)

images (7)

Eli is a young seminary student who stumbles upon a handwritten journal in the depths of the Basilica basement. It mentions the lost Ring of Solomon, a mythical religious artifact with monumental power. Tucked in the pages of the journal is a picture of a girl he knows he’s seen recently. But the date on the photograph is 1845 and Eli’s calendar reads 2014. The back of the picture has a penned note: Lily, Air, must find her and the others by 2014–death inevitable–rebirth questionable.

Eli recognizes Lily from her art studio. He’s not much of an art lover, but he’s drawn to Lily, a young, pretty painter–even though his path of study is leading him in a different direction. Deciding to speak to her is the first of many tough decisions Eli will have to make as his world is blown out from under him and everything he merely believed in before he realizes, now, is frighteningly true.

Eli sounds like a wonderfully complex hero – reluctance is certainly a good facet in a hero to give them depth – everyone has to find their own motivation 🙂

This character is so intriguing, on many levels. And dare I say it’s pretty hot that he’s swearing off women (literally) only to find one he’s inexplicable drawn to. Yep. I’m gonna need more on that!

Sounds like he’s going to be needing some help as he tries to sort everything out.
